Epson Launches Two New EcoTank Printers
Epson has announced they are expanding their EcoTank Pro line with the EcoTank Pro ET-5150 and the EcoTank Pro ET-5170. These two cartridge-free printers are designed for high-productivity home offices, plus small businesses. They are both a part of Epson’s Heat-Free design range, which the company claims are the “ideal replacement for laser printers”.
These two designs have been added to the existing line of Epson to provide a compact, entry-level and affordable printer for those who are after high-volume printing. Both models weigh in at just 7.3kg, making them relatively lightweight for a multifunction printer.
Epson Australia MD, Craig Heckenberg says the way the people are living and working has changed, and not just for the short term.

These models operate using PrecisionCore technology. This heat-free PrecisionCore technology uses a revolutionary print chip that can produce up to 40 million precise dots each second. Along with professional-quality output and fast speeds, this technology also means less power consumption due to the lack of heat. There are also no cartridges, which leads to no cartridge waste. Each auto-stop ink bottle is uniquely keyed so you know which colour goes into which tank.
The ET-5150 and ET 5170 come ready to print thousands of pages straight out of the box, and are extremely low-cost per page, costing as little as two cents a page. Printers in the EcoTank Pro Series can save users up to 90 % using low-cost replacement ink bottles vs. standard black capacity and XL capacity colour laser toner cartridges. Both models are compatible with wireless printing and can print from Android tablets and smartphone, iPad, and iPhone. You can also print on the go with Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print.
Both models have auto duplex printing and a large 2.4” colour touchscreen for simple navigation. The EcoTank Pro ET-5150 is a multifunction printer with scanning, copying, and printing capabilities, while the ET-5170 has each of these functions plus faxing. The EcoTank Pro ET-5150 and EcoTank Pro ET-5170 both print monochrome A4 pages at speeds of up to 17ppm and colour pages at speeds of up to 9.5ppm.
