Canon’s PIXMA ENDURANCE is Renamed PIXMA MegaTank

Canon Australia has announced their PIXMA ENDURANCE range of printers has been renamed to PIXMA MegaTank. These printers are a sub-brand of the Continuous Ink Supply System (CISS) printers, with the MegaTank range designed for both home and office use.

The PIXMA MegaTank range aims to significantly reduce ink costs and reduce an individual’s environmental footprint while still providing high-quality prints. In fact, the MegaTank products have the potential of achieving ink cost savings of up to 95% when printing typical A4 documents and purchasing ink at the recommended retail price (RRP).

In 2020, the overall demand for Canon Australia’s home printers saw a 39% increase. The Canon CISS range itself grew by a whopping 159%, making it the fastest-growing segment of the company’s consumer print category for the year.

Brendan Maher, the Senior Product Manager at Canon Australia, says this can be attributed to many Australians buying home office supplies during the COVID-19 lockdown. This is backed by statistics from YouGov, which showed that in April 2020, 12.3% of the Australian population (586,000 Australians) stated they had bought a home printer within the past four weeks.

“2020 saw a resurgence in the value of home printers across the nation as Australians embraced working, learning, and creating from home,” Brendan Maher says.

“A year later, home offices are no longer considered temporary fixtures in the Australian business landscape, and Australian families and professionals realise they need more reliable technology products than the stop-gap solutions they purchased last year to simply get through.”

“In 2021, Australians are no longer in pure survival mode and are looking to invest in office solutions that are both financially and environmentally sustainable. Canon’s MegaTank range is built to meet this exact demand,” Brendan Maher says.

Canon MegaTank printers have refillable ink bottles, providing lower printing costs for homes and small businesses. Using current prices, Canon states a standard-capacity cartridge set with a PIXMA HOME TS3460 costs around $0.361 of ink per page to print. To contrast this, when using a PIXMA G3600 MegaTank, the cost of ink per page comes to $0.0157 per page.

Each MegaTank printer also comes with a full set of refillable ink bottles with ink included. This means even further ink cost reduction, and these bottles of ink can last for months or even years, depending on environmental factors and the number of pages a household or business prints.

There are various MegaTank printers in the range, from the entry-level PIXMA G3360 MegaTank through to the more advanced PIXMA G7065 MegaTank, plus many printers in between. In 2021, Canon is looking to expand its range of MegaTank CISS printers.
